Description
This article deals with the concept of fact versus fiction and includes two listening activities for language learners. The first one involves telling a story with three distinct perspectives and determination of which one contains the factual information. The second activity requires telling two true stories and one false story to students who have to determine which one is false. The article points out that both exercises provide more engaging listening practice than the material typically contained in coursebooks.
