Description
Community Language Learning (CLL) involves a circle of learners with a tape recorder. Students speak in their native language; the teacher translates and records in the target language. No eye contact cues for responses; learners control speaking turns. The teacher acts as a translator or 'knower' and counselor, providing emotional support. CLL proceeds in four steps: Conversations, Translation back to native language, Grammar Analysis, and Study of Transcript. CLL encourages self-expression, adapting to various teaching needs and environments. Challenges include adapting to new roles, potential for trivial discussions, and group conflicts.
