Description
This article argues for the use of the learner's first language (Ll) as a tool for learning a second language (L2). The author provides five examples of exercises that can be used to incorporate Ll into L2 lessons. These exercises include bilingual one-word dialogues, bilingual dictation, bilingual story, Ll-L2 game, and ambiguous dictation. The author concludes by arguing that there is a real need for more bilingual activities in L2 teaching.
